Ingredients
-
Burger Patty:
- Ground Beef – 1/4 lb (preferably 80% lean)
- Salt and Black Pepper – to taste
- Garlic Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Onion Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Worcestershire Sauce – 1/2 teaspoon (optional, for extra depth of flavor)
-
Toppings:
- Mixed Greens – 1/4 cup (such as arugula or pea shoots for a fresh crunch)
- Tomato – 1 thick slice
- Cheese – 1 slice (optional, if you like a cheeseburger)
-
Bun:
- Burger Bun – 1, lightly toasted
- Butter – for toasting the bun
-
Condiments (optional):
- Mayonnaise, Ketchup, or Mustard – as desired
Instructions
1. Prepare the Patty
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently without overworking the meat.
- Form the mixture into a round patty, about 1 inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center of the patty with your thumb to help it cook evenly.
2. Cook the Patty
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patty on the skillet or grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer it more well-done.
- If using cheese, place a slice on the patty during the last minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
3. Toast the Bun
- In the same skillet or on the grill, add a small amount of butter to toast the cut sides of the bun until golden brown.
4. Assemble the Burger
- Spread your choice of condiments on the bottom bun if desired.
- Place the cooked burger patty on the bun, then top with the tomato slice and mixed greens.
- Add the top bun, pressing down gently to hold everything together.
Serving Suggestion
Serve your gourmet burger with a side of crispy fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal. This burger is best enjoyed warm, with the greens adding a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the beef.
Enjoy your beautifully balanced, fresh-tasting burger!
